On Monday, May 21, 2018 the prestigious School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University hosted their Alumni Association Annual Gathering of Leaders at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. During this event, Hostmark Hospitality Group President & CEO Jerry Cataldo was named as an Honorary Alumnus of the Year. Jerry’s recognition was presented alongside other distinguished honorees, including Alumna of the Year Carol Campbell and Emerging Leaders of the Year Brian DeMeester and Alison Wallace. As a special surprise, Dan W. Darrow of Palm Hospitality Company received the 2018 Spartan Champion Award.
In his acceptance speech for the award, Jerry Cataldo addressed current students from The School of Hospitality Business. He stressed his gratitude to Hostmark’s Artists, stating, “It’s one of the things I’m most proud of – the longevity and integrity of our company, and our Artists’ commitment to service.” He also reminded the
students to never lose sight of the foundation of the hospitality industry – positively impacting and creating memorable experiences for guests.
As a Platinum event sponsor, the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza hosted both the award ceremony and reception, as well as the Alumni Association executive board’s annual meeting earlier that day. The excellent service and hospitality shown by the Artists of the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza was evident throughout the event and recognized by numerous members of the executive board.
“It’s truly an honor to join past, current & future Spartan leaders of hospitality,” Jerry said. “The School of Hospitality Business at MSU is a great place for students to develop a strong foundation for their careers, and we look forward to working with MSU students for many years to come.”
